Legibility is the serifs between letters and words. Serifs are the space between each letter and word. If nhot enough space is put between the letters and words, like the image shown below, the writing is unreadable. If the writing is legible, the space between each word and letter is put in a way our eyes can perceive the text. When the serifs are too close together the text is hard to read. But if ther serifs are also too far apart, the text can also be hard to understand.
