Making notes: drawing what value changes you see but not making them detailed.
Pushing: pushing graphite to certain areas on the page.
Modelling: Taking an eraser to add light.
Photo copy mode: Transferring an image in your mind to black and white to see the value.
Describing: Marking details within a drawing.
Not symbols: not drawing eyes and a nose but defining it through value.

Grapheme
Grapheme is the smallest unit of a writing system consisting of all written symbols or sequences of written symbols that are used to represent a single phoneme. They are important because they are used to understand languages, written, and printed text around the world.

Legability
Legibility is the serifs between letters and words. Serifs are the space between each letter and word. If nhot enough space is put between the letters and words, like the image shown below, the writing is unreadable. If the writing is legible, the space between each word and letter is put in a way our eyes can perceive the text. When the serifs are too close together the text is hard to read. But if ther serifs are also too far apart, the text can also be hard to understand.

Italic
Italics is the a style of printing where the letters slope to the right. This font is used for emphasis and used to separate different kinds of information. I feel italics is a useful font because it is common and used daily. People understand and recognize the font to make connections or accusations according to the text.

Space
Space: the distance or area around, between or, within components of a piece. It is positive and negative value, open or closed, shallow or deep and, 2D or 3D. It sometimes isn't within a piece but an illusion.
Value
Value is an element of art that refers to the lightness or darkness of something. there are 5 ways to render value. The 5 ways are: stippling, shading, cross hatching, parallel hatching, scribble hatching. "Value is the cake itself but colour is the king"- Mrs. Curtis.
